Edgewater is an historic Chicago neighborhood comprised of several small but thriving communities. Bordering beautiful Lake Michigan and stretching through Western Avenue, Edgewater is home to over 62, 000 Chicago residents. Edgewater Glen, Andersonville and Lakewood-Balmoral are all distinct areas and have seen quite a bit of growth and renovation over the past decade. Andersonville is an historic Swedish neighborhood that is home to Swedish restaurants, bakeries and the Swedish Heritage Museum. Lakewood Balmoral is comprised of quiet tree lined streets bursting with vintage homes and unique city architecture. The Edgewater community is progressive and diverse, yet very stable. Commuters enjoy the convenience of the Red Line Train which runs north to Howard and South through the downtown area, to Chicago’s south side. Several bus lines also run through the main streets of Edgewater offering city dwellers the ease of public transportation.
